Iris是希腊文的“彩虹”，这个名字跟《City Of Angels》很配，
Goo Goo Dolls，名字也很特别，goo是哭泣、哀伤的意思，所以乐队也被翻译成“悲伤娃娃”，“哭泣玩偶”。
1985年，主唱兼吉他手John Rzeznik与玩重金属乐的表哥Robby Takac找来前鼓手George Tutuska，在美国纽约州水牛城组成了三人摇滚团体。
《Iris》收录在"Dizzy Up The Girl"乐队的第六张专辑，当时乐队正处在红过之后下坡的尴尬期，还换了新鼓手Mike Malinin，当时电影《City Of Angels》请他们谱写音乐，结果就是音乐和电影相得益彰，解决了他们事业的危机。所谱写演唱的《Iris》一曲，不仅为他们赢得1999年第41届葛莱美音乐奖"年度唱片""最佳流行演唱团体""年度歌曲"等三项大奖提名，将GooGooDolls的乐坛声望与销售数字推向了顶点，“Dizzy Up The Girl” 专辑的制作Rob Cavallo获得“年度最佳制作”大奖。
非常喜欢这首《Iris》，歌词简朴但非常感人，在John Rzeznik非常狂放但充满魅力的嗓音下，整首歌蕴含的感情演变成了洋溢的激情，做为电影的配乐，与《天使之城》的意境堪称丝丝入扣。而且旋律优美，琅琅上口。
